SoNoRo festival is coming this year to Cluj-Napoca with an extended program, with six concerts, from November 13 to 17, in places traditionally such as the National Bank of Romania, the "Babeș-Bolyai" University, the Boema House and the Calvin Reformed Church, but also in new spaces, such as the House of Religious Freedom and the Sigismund Toduță Memorial House.
This year, the Festival will be called DaDa and will be dedicated to the powerful creative energy of the Dadaist phenomenon, initiated at the beginning of the 20th century, in Zurich, by a group of European artists, organized around the Romanian-born writer Tristan Tzara.
"At the XIV edition we want to transform the SoNoRo Festival into a Dadaist manifesto, to bring this creative energy to the concert spaces, where we return every year: the splendid headquarters of the National Bank of Cluj-Napoca, the Reformed Church or The classroom of Babeș-Bolayi University, but we intend to surprise the audience with new spaces, in which the room music will sound unconventional and maybe even unusual, but convincing. Therefore, we invite the public from Cluj to places such as the Boema House, a heritage building from 1800, the Religious Freedom House, built in the fifteenth century, the only building in the city with intact Renaissance and Gothic elements, and the Sigismund Toduță memorial house, in which the Cluj composer lived for 30 years. Through the chosen program, we will invite the public to listen to the music - more attentive, but also more playful, with more humor -, we will experiment in the Dadaist style, enriching the classical repertoire, by creating an authentic and unusual musical collage, "says Răzvan Popovici, the director of the SoNoRo Festival.
