Drivers who want to get a taxi license in Cluj-Napoca must have electric cars. It is a prerequisite to receive one of the 31 licenses that are still available in the city. Ediles also impose harsh measures on those who already have such a document. In the next two years, taxi drivers must change their cars with some that pollute less.
Iulia Perșa, head of media office, Cluj-Napoca City Hall: At present there are 2,469 taxi authorizations issued. We will grant 31 green permits, ie for electric cars, because we encourage green transport.
Taxi drivers can charge electric cars at one of the 18 stations specially arranged on the public domain in the city. One daily use is free, and then the cost is two lei / KW. With a full one, which takes about an hour to load, 300 km can be covered.
Ioan Pugna, representative of the taxi drivers association: We have a colleague who only has electricity for two months. What he's complaining about is that he has nowhere to charge it. The existing stations are mostly busy. When charging home, to say normal outlet, it's 20 hours, meaning excluded.
The new rules for taxi drivers talk about since the summer. In the first phase, the project provided for the obligation to replace the old cars, with pollution norms lower than Euro 5. The electric vehicles rule appeared after the public debate.
Driver: Kilowatt is 65 dollars at home, considering that an electric car consumes somewhere at 6-7 lei per hundred km, it's pretty quick to repay. Slowly, they will reduce pollution in the future.
