Large white sharks come out of the clear blue waters of the Pacific Ocean. The incredible animals were photographed off the coast of Guadalupe Island, a small volcanic island about 150 miles off the coast of Mexico's Baja California Peninsula. It is estimated that there are about 170 large whites near the island, making it one of the best places in the world for divers. Photographer David Fleetham / Barcroft UK UK Office, London. The big white sharks that stood out on the coast of San Mateo County on Thursday invited the coastguards to look behind them this weekend. Sharks were first seen by pilots flying near Half Moon Bay and more sharks can be seen on the way.

According to scientists, the water temperature in the area has been slightly warmer than usual since 2014, allowing large white sharks, which are historically more common in Southern California, to move further north.

Large white sharks are most common off the coast of the Bay Area in late summer and autumn, when adult sharks return to the area to feed on the Farallon Islands after migrating to the deep ocean. Local sharks feed in the so-called red triangle, between Monterey Bay, the Farallon Islands and Bodega Bay, usually around August to December for elephant seals and other marine mammals.

In recent years, researchers have observed more young large white sharks eating fish than older large white sharks eating mammals in the area starting as early as April. This means that there is probably enough food for sharks.

All the little white sharks we've seen in Monterey tell me that there is a lot of food and a healthy marine environment in the habitat, said David Ebert, director of the Pacific Shark Research Center.

There have been recent observations in the Gulf region. In March, Half Moon Bay, a man at the pressure site Mavericks, saw a group of people surfing a large white shark nearby. He towed eight surfers back ashore for safety. Last month, Sonoma County Sheriff's Office postponed water training in Bodega Bay after the crew spotted a large white shark on a helicopter.

Christopher Lowe, director of the Cal State Long Beach Shark Laboratory, said that if he were a betting man, his money would go to the big white shark if the species saw it.

A sharp nose, large pectoral fins pointing slightly forward, and a truly triangular fin make it like a white shark. On the other hand, the body shape looks a bit short and compact, like a salmon shark. But it could just be the water effects of the photos, so it looks like a white shark.

If not large white sharks, experts say they are either salmon or maca sharks, both of which are related to large white sharks. However, salmon sharks that eat only fish have a white spot that lacks these sharks, and the mako shark is usually a different color.

From the pictures Ive saw, it's really hard to say with 100 percent accuracy that these are white sharks, but the most likely scenario, given the number of white sharks right now in Monterey Bay, said senior researcher Salvador Jorgensen. Monterey Bay Aquarium. And the behavior seems to be similar to that of Monterey Bay sharks swimming in warmer water near the shore. White sharks usually grind in surface waters in the afternoon, when the water is warmest.

Experts have emphasized that young large white sharks, which do not migrate to the deep ocean and are located near the coast in the Gulf, are now eating fish. Mammal-eating adults are far away in the Pacific Ocean between California and Hawaii until they return to California in late August.

I want to emphasize that white juveniles are fish-eaters, said Stanford marine scientist Barbara Block. They are not really dangerous to humans.

Jorgensen also warned against Hollywood-type shark hysteria: despite the increase in human and shark populations and despite the increase in the number of people, the number of shark attacks in California has been stable at around three or four since 1950. is in the water due to wet suits and the growing popularity of craft such as kayaking and paddling.
