In Jesi the choice is between Butterfly, Carmen and Turandot
As soon as the festival is over, the Pergolesi Spontini Foundation reopens the curtain of the Pergolesi & nbsp; theater in Jesi with the opera season, from October 18th to December 22nd.
Three titles taken from the large repertoire, icons of as many female types: Butterfly, the faithful woman, Carmen, the rebel who refuses all ties, Turandot, the charming and unattainable woman. Around these titles, a singular project was born last summer, entitled I am the work. The opera is part of us and our city, designed to look for the faces of an innovative communication campaign, which took place on social media but also in public billboards and in the windows of the city. "And you, what kind of woman are you?" & Nbsp; was the question addressed to the women of Jesi, invited to express their temperament in a photographic set.
Of the 32 women of various ages and backgrounds who allowed themselves to be photographed by Francesca Tilio, 11 felt "Carmen", 12 chose "Madama Butterfly", and 9 were the "Turandot"; from the photo gallery the faces were selected for the posters of the operas of the opera season.
The Butterfly season opens, the debut of the Foundation's new production in co-production with the Teatro Comunale di Treviso and Teatro Comunale di Ferrara. The staging of the Romanian National Opera of Cluj-Napoca was created by the Pergolesi Spontini Foundation. The work will be directed by David Crescenzi; Matteo Mazzoni signs the direction, alongside Benito Leonori for the scenes and Patricia Toffolutti for the costumes. & nbsp;
Carmen's other debut will be Carmen, co-produced with Opéra-Théâtre de Metz Métropole, Opéra de Massy, Opéra de Reims, Center lyrique Clermont Auvergne, and Fondazione Rete Lirica delle Marche. On the podium Beatrice Venezi, while the direction will be by Paul-Émile Fourny and the scenes by Benito Leonori.
& nbsp; For Turandot we will instead use a successful set-up, the one curated for the direction, the scenes and costumes by Pierluigi Pizzi for the Sferisterio di Macerata in 2006, taken up again in Catania in 2016 and in Rovigo in January 2019, naturally with the appropriate adaptations for indoor theaters. The musical direction is entrusted to Pietro Rizzo. & Nbsp;
The orchestra engaged for the three productions will be the FORM - Fondazione Orchestra Regionale delle Marche, while the three choirs of the region will alternate on stage, the lyric choir "Vincenzo Bellini", the "Ventidio Basso" of Ascoli Piceno and the "Mezio Agostini "Of Fano. & Nbsp;
& nbsp; The billboard is completed with the first ever representation of the "Lunar CircOpera" The hidden side, the Foundation's production in collaboration with El Grito Circo Contemporaneo all'antica and Bernstein School of Musical Theater. The show, directed by Giacomo Costantini, the scenes by Benito Leonori and the costumes by Beatrice Giannini, is a format already tried and tested by the Pergolesi Spontini Foundation (remember the shows presented in past editions dedicated to Bach and Rossini) which combines the Italian opera tradition with the musical tradition of the circus, for the first time this year in dialogue with artists and forms of the musical. The music of Beethoven, Puccini, Dvorak, Debussy and originals, are composed and recomposed by Marco Attura, who will direct the Time Machine Ensemble. & Nbsp;
After Antonio Caldara, the next Early Music Seminars in 2020 will be dedicated to the Venetian Barbara Strozzi and to the music at the court of Catherine of Russia in St. Petersburg & nbsp;
