Gabriel Răuță is IONA in the National Theater Festival, a Brâncuși in the whale of exile PHOTO VIDEO
The story of the famous biblical character swallowed by a huge fish, from whose belly he tries to escape, only to wake up a prisoner in an even bigger belly, a story that Marin Sorescu turns into one of the most famous pieces in Romanian drama, Iona becomes in the vision of director Tompa Gábor a poetic show, in which Ada Milea's music creates a special universe, which combines the tragic absurdity and humor (photo: Mihaela Marin).
The protagonist of the co-production Iona (collaboration of the Nottara Theater Bucharest with the Hungarian State Theater Cluj) is the actor Gabriel Răuță, who is joined by the echo Cristina Juncu.https://www.europafm.ro/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Gabriel-Rauta-1.mp3? 1 EMBED CODE Copy the code below to add this audio clip to your site.
Subtitled by Marin Sorescu tragedy in four paintings, Iona, his debut play, was published in 1968 in the magazine Luceafărul and is part, together with Paracliserul and Matca, of the trilogy entitled Setea muntelui de sare.
The work proposal on this text was interesting from several points of view. The first would be that the director Gabor Tompa wanted to talk not only about the trials, about despair, about the joys of life, about all this baggage of memory that is exploited in Sorescu's text. At the same time, he found it very interesting to join Iona's experience. the experience of the artist, the artist as an approach, the artist in the world and, somehow, he joined two routes: Iona's route and Constantin Brâncuși's route. It seemed to Gabor Tompa that this living in the whale of exile that Brâncuși took is very similar to the issue of the play. We are not talking about Brâncuși, but we are talking about the artist's condition and about all the attempts to reach the perfect shape. Unlike the biblical character, Iona, Sorescu's lone fisherman, does not carry any guilt or sin on his shoulders. He will be swallowed by a huge fish from the beginning and every escape from the fish's belly will take him to an even bigger belly, prison after prison, to infinity, a condition of human existencehttps://www.europafm.ro/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/Gabriel-Rauta-3.mp3? 3 EMBED CODE Copy the code below to add this audio clip to your site.
It is a show that greatly exploits the humor of Sorescu's text. It is a show that has this sound universe of Ada Milea that always enriches a text or a show, brings new valences. I invite the Bucharest and Cluj audiences to see Iona, because she also plays in Cluj, being a co-production with the Hungarian State Theater in Cluj-Napoca, both in the National Theater Festival and in the Union of European Theaters Festival that will take place in November to Cluj.
